In Andhra Pradesh, the Aadhar based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme is supposed to be launched as a pilot project in 5 districts. This implementation may prevent majority of people from getting their share of subsidies on LPG cylinders. The reason behind this is that neither the Andhra Pradesh government nor the people of this state have prepared themselves for this huge launch.
In case this scheme is launched in these 5 districts despite of the incomplete preparations, then only 30% of LPG consumers in these districts will be benefitted by it. So far as per the records, only 21% people here have been able to get their respective Aadhaar cards and link them with their corresponding bank accounts. These are the only people who have provided their details to the gas agencies as well as dealers for this purpose.
By the time the deadline decided by the government approaches, it is estimated that this number may rise up to 30% in the state. Even then around 70% of the people will be denied of their share of subsidies on the LPG cylinders. The five districts of Andhra Pradesh where this DBT scheme is supposed to be launched are Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Chittoor, East Godavari as well as Anantpur.
Another piece of information indicates that the construction of data centre building in Gurgaon for storing all the Aadhaar card based statistics has begun. The construction work began in the starting of this year. 5 acres of land was given to the government for this purpose by the HSIIDC i.e. the Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation in November 2011. As per the guidelines provided by the corporation, the project has to be started within 3 years after the construction work of this building starts.
In case, this is not possible, then an extension of 2 more years can be provided for the building work to be completed. It is estimated that this data centre will start functioning in the year 2016. The data related to the Aadhaar cards of a number of states in India will be stored at this data centre. These states are Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Orissa, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and many more.
The government has procured land in Bangalore for the same purpose. These data centre building will be made centrally air conditioned as well as sound proof. High end international infrastructure will be included in these buildings. As per the DGM of HSIIDC, Divya Kamal, the construction of this data centre building has already begun in Gurgaon.
