There are a large number of Aadhaar enrolment centres throughout the country. The next step taken by the government will have special Aadhaar detail correction centres in the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Indore. These centres are being set up so that people can update or change their details to be printed on their respective cards. Besides helping in correcting and updating the details, these centres will also allow enrolment facility for those people do not have their Aadhaar enrolment letters yet.
Currently all this updating as well as modifying work is being done online through the official website as well as offline via post. Another addition to the Aadhaar cards will be the date of birth of the card holder. These special centres are supposed to be set up in Indore very soon.
With the increase in number of people who are receiving their Aadhaar cards, there is a simultaneous increase in the number of complaints as well. These include wrong or blurred photo, incorrect address, and common spelling mistakes.
To make appropriate corrections in their cards, people are filling forms online or downloading forms from the website, filling them and then sending it via post to the concerned authorities. There is still majority of individuals who do not know that their details can be corrected. They are still facing troubles due to this problem and due to lack of information.
While coming for making corrections in their cards, people are required to bring the same set of identity proof documents that they earlier brought to the enrolment centre for their actual Aadhaar enrolment process. The incorrect details will definitely be updated but the unique 12 digit number will remain the same for each individual. Once the corrections are made on the cards, they will be sent to their enrollers within a few days.
In the latest from the Planning Commission, they have informed the Right to Information (RTI) that complete date of birth will replace the existing birth year on the new versions of Aadhaar cards to be made. So at these new detail correction centres, the date of birth of the enroller will also get updated on their respective cards. For this purpose, the enroller must carry valid documents confirming his/ her date of birth.
When the enrolling agency was contacted, an official said that they have finally got permission to set up these detail correction centres in Indore but there was no news about when this process will get started here. They are still waiting for orders from Delhi. However, it is believed that this service will be started very soon.
