In the latest from the capital, all those politicians in Delhi who have been enrolling themselves by setting up Aadhaar enrolment camps at their offices may end up in trouble very soon. The concerned authorities are determined to take strict action against such political leaders who are setting a bad example for the people of Delhi.
A number of computer systems as well as other enrolment related items have been seized from many such illegal enrolment camps set up at politician’s offices. Many such illegal camps are still in operation even after the administration gave warnings to these politicians. According to the administrative officials, First Impression Report (FIR) will be registered against such corrupt people.
In Delhi, the responsibility for Aadhar enrolment was given to the Deputy Commissioner i.e. the DC. As per the guidelines provided, an enrolment centre can only be set up after taking permission from the DC office. Here 6 private agencies were given the responsibility of taking care of the enrolments. But the evil headed councillors; legislators as well as other officials have teamed up with these agencies and set up illegal enrolment centres at their offices.
Lately, large numbers of people have been coming to these centres for their Aadhaar card enrolments. The politicians have started this practice in order to get more votes in the upcoming elections in Delhi. These politicians have been using all kinds of tactics from air conditioned rooms to refreshments for these people so as to ensure more votes for them.
At these centres, against the rules set by the government people who do not have proofs of being the residents of Delhi are also being enrolled. Signatures from the councillor as well as the legislator are enough for enrolling them. There are several regions in Delhi where these centres are in operation. Some of these regions are Rohini, Kirari, Badli, Burari, Budh Vihar, Sultanpuri, Prashant Vihar, Wazirpur, Mukandpur, Rithala, Narela Ashok Vihar and many more.
The SDM of Civil Lines, Shyamsundar, said that they have been receiving a lot of complaints regarding this practice. The sole motive behind this was to promote their political parties in the upcoming elections. The authorities have already seized machines from many such illegal centres. A final warning has been given to these politicians and if it happens in the future, an FIR will be registered against all of them.
Meanwhile in the Mysore district of Karnataka, the concerned authorities are trying their best to cover maximum number of people under the Aadhaar based DBT scheme in order to link their bank accounts with their respective Aadhaar numbers. LPG subsidy through Aadhar card is supposed to be implemented in Mysore very shortly.
All the gas agencies as well as dealers have been asked to set up drop boxes so that people could easily submit their UID numbers. Apart from gas agencies, dealers as well as distributors, these drop boxes will also be put at the petrol pumps in this district. As per the records, only 56% Aadhar cards have been issued in Mysore so far.
