Re-Enroll for UIDAI Aadhaar

****
Ever since Aadhaar enrolment has started in the country, people have been facing a lot of troubles. And now it seems that this troublesome experience is never going to cease. In the latest news received from the authorities, all those people in Himachal Pradesh who got themselves enrolled last year i.e. before 1st April, 2012 and have not received their UID numbers yet; may need to re-enrol for their respective cards.

Another shocking fact here is that there are lacs of people in Himachal Pradesh who have not received their cards even after almost more than a year of getting enrolled. The central government started the work of Aadhaar enrolment in the year 2012. In this scenario, people who got enrolled before April, 2012 may need to go through the procedure all over again. Before re- enrolling for their UID numbers, each individual has to visit the official website of Aadhaar enrolment scheme and has to check the status of his/ her Aadhaar card.

When people will enter their respective enrolment numbers, they will get to know about the status of their cards. In case an individual’s card has been made successfully, then a status message will show “Aadhaar card generated”. In this case, there is no need for re- enrolling. People can simply wait for their cards to reach them or they can download e-Aadhaar letter from the website itself.

On the other hand, if the status message on the website says “your application has been rejected”, then those people will have to get re- enrolled for their UID numbers. It is mandatory for every individual to keep his/ her acknowledgement slip safely. For checking the status online, this acknowledgement slip is necessary and those who have lost it will not be able to check their status online.

Another piece of information from the authorities has cleared the air and said that Aadhaar cards are no longer mandatory for the preparation of Registration Certificates i.e. RC as well as Driving Licenses (DL) for vehicles. This rule will be implemented in the city of Chandigarh in Punjab. Lately, the District Collector i.e. the DC of Chandigarh took his previous orders back by submitting an affidavit in the state High Court. He earlier wanted to make UID numbers mandatory for the registration of vehicles as well as for getting driving licenses.

The Delhi state government has always been a step ahead than other states when it came to implementing the DBT i.e. Direct Benefit Transfer scheme based on Aadhaar cards. The UIDAI i.e. the Unique Identification Authority of India has praised the Delhi government for its efforts.

Under this scheme, the government has made UID numbers mandatory for accessing various schemes as well as services in the state. These include property registration as well as marriage registration. The government is also buckling up to finish the enrolment process as soon as possible so that all the remaining schemes and services can be included under it.
