With a view to assist the public in general and unfortunate victims of accident in particular, IIB has provided a link to this site which will help identify the insurance status of any vehicle involved in the accident. The data hosted on this site are as provided by the Insurers of Motor vehicles. While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of data, the IIB is not responsible for discrepancy of the data.

How is the age of the Vehicle Calculated?
The age of the vehicle (in years) is calculated as the difference of policy start date and date of first registration, rounded off to the closest integer. When the age of the vehicle is 0 it means vehicle is new. On the first renewal of the policy the age of vehicle will be 1.
How is Txt_Product_ID different from Txt_Insurer_Product_ID
The respective product-ID as approved by IRDA should be provided against Txt_Product_ID, if applicable. If it is not applicable, leave it blank.
The product-ID number as per Insurer’s own product-ID master should be provided against Txt_Insurer_Product_ID in all cases. Insurer shall submit their product-ID master (as on date) to IIB and shall update it from time to time, as and when there is a revision.
The Product ID master should contain the following information for each product:
As Orphan Claims do not have all the mandatory attributes, they need not be submitted in the existing tables as they will not pass the validation rules during data upload. In future, IIB will develop a separate Table for Orphan claims, with fewer attributes, and communicate the submission requirements to the Insurers.
Registration Number is not available at the time of Policy inception for the new vehicles. How and when should it be updated in the policy Table?
As soon as registration number is intimated, the same should be endorsed in the policy. Ideally no policy in force for more than 3 months should be without registration number.
- The mandatory Information to be provided are Name, Address, Email-id or Mobile number, Registration number, accident date and place of accident.
- The respective live policy details of the searched vehicle is provided and in case of non-availability of live policy details, previous policy details is provided. In case search is unsuccessful based on Vehicle Registration number, the search can also be done based on engine number and chassis number.
- The search facility is limited to three times for a particular mobile number or Email ID
- Registration Number has to be entered without any special characters E.g.(AP01AT1234). Entering of Registration Number is mandatory.
- There is a time lag of two months in submission of policy data by insurers to Data Repository.As such there is a possibility of Insured Vehicles not appearing in the Data base.
- In case of new vehicles, only Chassis and Engine Numbers are submitted by insurers at the time of issuing the policy.
- The search is based on data submitted by insurers for the period starting.
- For such vehicles where details are not available, the Querist may approach the concerned RTA for details of vehicle owner, address etc.
- You will be allowed to search up to a maximum of 3 times for a particular mobile number or Email ID.
