While both the state as well as the central governments is busy in speeding up the enrolment process throughout the country so as to link it with various schemes as well as welfare programmes initiated by the government, the results show that these promises were nothing but fake. A majority of people who are supposed to be affected by the launch of the DBT i.e. Direct Benefit Transfer scheme in the country have shown their concerns as well as worries. This DBT scheme is supposed to be launched in a number of districts throughout the country before New Year.
Few states like Andhra Pradesh and Delhi have already made Aadhaar card mandatory for accessing various services, schemes as well as distribution of subsidies in the state. A number of other states are also willing to implement this scheme now. At this point where states are willing to support Aadhaar card, the promises made by the central government as well as the UIDAI are appearing to be fraudulent. The records available at the UIDAI office shows that around 31 crore Aadhaar cards have been made so far, but the reality is what only a few people know.
In the beginning it was promised that Aadhaar cards will be delivered to the card holders within 60 to 90 days of enrolment. According to the stats collected from the citizens of this country, these promises are merely fake words. A survey was conducted in this regard and it was found that the true picture was far behind than what is being shown and told by the government.
In the survey which was conducted for around 2 months in the country, people were asked about the time for which they have been waiting for their Aadhaar cards to reach them since the day of their enrolment. The results were shocking and this proves that the promises made by the UIDAI regarding delivery of Aadhaar cards are completely fake. In this survey, waiting time period was categorised and people were asked to pick one according to their waiting period.
The poll was conducted on 10100 people and out of these, 2751 people voted that they have waited for 0-3 months for their cards. The option that was voted second was 12-24 months after the day of enrolment with 2715 votes. Apart from this, around 1949 people have been waiting for more than 24 months and this is the third highest voted option here. The results of these polls were shocking as trust of citizens is being broken.
Even after 2 years of enrolment, they have not received their cards. 1351 people have waited for around 6-12 months. Around 1334 people said that they waited for 3-6 months. part from the problem of late delivery of Aadhaar cards in the country, another issue that has caught attention is the communication problem between the people as well as the concerned authorities.
Email support of UIDAI is not proper as well as the toll free number is not working most of the times. People who have received their cards are complaining about the incorrect details mentioned on their cards and people who have not received their cards yet are having a hard time while trying to download them. Many questions are being raised on the working as well as the responsibilities of the authority but still people are compelled to get enrolled for their UID numbers.
